There are three (3) hot mineral wells with various temperatures and one (1) cold well. Well #1 is 134 to 138°F and Well #2 is 132°F. These two wells may be used for a campground unit with grottos in the future. Well #4 is 134°F and is used as a heat source to heat an onsite greenhouse in the winter. The water from Well #4 is contained in a closed loop system which puts the water back into the well. Well #3 is a fresh water well with a temperature of 60°F and is occasionally used to irrigate crops in the greenhouse. If a campground is developed in the future, Well #3 will be mixed with Wells #1, #2, and #4 to lower the temperature of the water in these wells. At this time, no well water is discharged from the property. The State Engineer’s Office has issued a non-consumptive water right to CIC. The water right cannot exceed 1.00 cubic feet per second (0.65 million gallons per day, or 724 acre-feet annually. At this time, the CIC is not is not discharging. CIC maintains in “Inactive Outfall” and must notify the Division of Water Quality (Division) of a planned discharge 60 days prior to discharging.PUBLIC COMMENTSDuring the public comment period provided under Utah Administrative Code (UAC) R317-8-6.5, any interested person may submit written comments on the draft permit and may request a public hearing if no hearing has already been scheduled. A request for a public hearing shall be in writing and shall state the nature of the issues proposed to be raised in the hearing. All comments will be considered in making the final decision and shall be answered as provided in UAC R317-8-6.12. Public comments are invited any time prior to the deadline of the close of business on MONTHXX, 2024.
