PermitInformationPermittee:KennecottUtah Copper, LLCMailingAddress:4700DaybreakParkway SouthJordan,Utah84095FacilityLocation:The facility isthe Smelter located south of highway 201 between Magna, Utah and Lake Point, Utah Kennecott Utah Copper has requested renewal and modification of the ground water discharge permit UGW350008for the continued operation of the smelter which processes copper ore concentrate mined in the Bingham Canyon Mine.The mine is located in the Oquirrh Mountains approximately 10 miles southwest of Salt Lake City, Utah.The proposed renewed permit includes a modification to allow the construction of two additional material processing and equipment decontamination pads. These pads will be constructed to the same Best Available Technology (BAT) standards as the existing pads and under the oversight of a construction permit issued by the Division of Water Quality. All comments received prior to close of business Tuesday, September10, 2024,will be considered in the formulation of final determinations to be imposed on the permit.
