grants brochure
●Utah Code 19-6-720 authorizes the Division of Waste Management and
Radiation Control (DWMRC) to award grants, as funds are available.
●The Used Oil Grants Brochure contains eligibility information for UOCCs
●The grantee shall commit to the program for a minimum of two years.
○If the two-year commitment is not fulfilled, the grantee may be
required to repay all or a portion of the grant amount.
General Information about Used Oil Block Grants:

●Public education programs
●Used oil transportation cost for used oil collection centers
●Assistance to a UOCC for initial or ongoing expenses associated with oering free
collection of used motor oil to the public
●Purchase of equipment and supplies for collection of used oil (i.e., curbside
containers, oil collection drums, oil test kits, etc.)
●Construction or improvement of permanent facilities for the collection of used oil
●Establishment of regularly scheduled or on-call curbside collection for used oil
●Expansion of existing used oil collection programs
●Purchase or retrofiing of vehicles for curbside collection of used oil
Examples of activities eligible for funding:

Transportation
Grant funds may be used by a qualifying UOCC Type A
or B to cover the cost of shipping used oil collected at
the UOCC, if the UOCC meets all criteria :
○Only accepts used oil from DIYers and/or farmers
○Is located in a city with a population of 30,000 or less
○Stays active with the UO Program for at least two years
○Completes a grant application signed by the UOCC owner
○Submits transportation bids from a permied used oil
transporter
○One transportation bid for requests less than
$1,000.00
○Three transportation bids for requests over
$1,000.00
Transportation
Grant funds may be used by a qualifying UOCC Type C
to cover the cost of shipping used oil collected at the
UOCC, if the UOCC meets all criteria :
○Is a Utah municipal landfill that is registered as a Type C
UOCC
○Only allows small businesses that qualify as VSQGs of
hazardous waste to deliver used oil in a volume of less
than 55 gallons per visit per day
○Submits transportation bids from a permied used oil
transporter
○One transportation bid for requests less than
$1,000.00
○Three transportation bids for requests over
$1,000.00
●Fill out the appropriate appendix from the Used Oil Recycling Block Grant
Application Package
○You do not need to submit unused pages
●Complete and submit to the DWMRC Director for consideration
