LEWISTON
FAIRGROUNDS

PARTNERS:
UTAH DEPARTMENT OF
ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY (UDEQ)
U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
AGENCY (EPA)
BACKGROUND
A former gasoline service station property was
donated to Lewiston City some time ago. Lewiston
City became concerned that the former underground
storage tank system may still be abandoned on-site,
and/or the site may have been contaminated by
petroleum during its operation as a gasoline station.
Lewiston City was concerned about long-term
liability issues and potential cleanup costs. The city
requested assistance from UDEQ to assess the
property to determine if there is any environmental
contamination present that may require cleanup
actions prior to redevelopment activities.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
UDEQ completed a subsurface investigation at the
property.
Although the former dispenser island and a hoist
remain onsite, no significant petroleum
hydrocarbon impacts were discovered at the site.
NFA was issued to Lewiston City.
