The Beehive Emission Reduction Plan is a greenhouse gas reduction planning initiative led by the Utah
Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) that will allow DEQ and other agencies, municipalities, and
groups to secure emission reduction-related funding under the Inflation Reduction Act, the Infrastructure
Investment and Jobs Act, and other sources.
In September 2023, EPA is expected to release Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for emissions
reduction plan implementation grant funding.

DEQ has extensive emission reduction planning
experience and wants to coordinate with
partners to ensure that funding is leveraged to
support balanced, state-driven solutions that
pave the way for continued growth while
maintaining a high-quality of life in Utah.
The Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate
Pollution Reduction Grant awarded DEQ $3 million to
carry out the planning phase. During the
implementation phase, $4.6 billion will be available
nationwide in competitive grants for entities that
have projects that are included in DEQ’s priority
emission reduction plan.
