Box 144820 150 N. 1950 West Salt Lake City, UT 84114 RE: Interstate Brick Report of Excess Emissions 0510112023 - Revised The following is a revised letter of excess emissions from Kiln 4. This letter is written in accordance with UDAQ Rule R307-107-2 (Reporting). This unavoidable upset condition was reported by phone to Kyle @theUtah Division of Air Quality on May 1,2023. A timely Deviation Report was originally submitted on May 2,2023. This revision is provided in response to a request by Joe Rockwell, Utah Division of Air Quality, as part of an inspection conducted Jaruary 22, 2024. The Kiln 4 Scrubber shut down due to a failure of the Scrubber Reagent Recirculation Pump. We were forced to bypass the scrubber in order to make the necessary repairs. To minimize emissions, the kiln was slowed to the lowest possible rate for the entire period. The period of uncontrolled emissions for the Kiln 4 Scrubber was from l2:07amon Monday, Mayl, 2023 until 3:07pm on Monday, May l, 2023 (15 hours of uncontrolled emissions). The following table is an estimate of excess emissions. The estimates are based on emissions factors from previous emissions inventories. A Deviation Report as required by our Operating Permit #3500200001 is also attached. Please let me know if there are any questions or if additional information is needed.
