Re: Request for Extension of Time for Submittal of Public Comments. White Mesa Mill
License Renewal. Radioactive Materials License UT 1900479.
Dear Mr. Anderson,
This to request a 60-day extension of time for members of the public to submit comments
on the White Mesa Mill License Renewal. I am making this request for the following
reasons:
1. The License Renewal process involves review of the license renewal package
documents and other White Mesa documents, preparation of questions for the
June 8 hearing in Salt Lake, travel and attendance at the hearing in Salt Lake, attendance
at the June 15 hearing in Blanding, and writing of comments. Organizations, including
my own, and individuals who want to be involved and provide informed comments
cannot devote every hour of every working day on this.
2. This process comes at the time I must pack up my household and home office and
move. I must be moved out by mid-June and will be traveling last week of June. These
arrangements were made prior to the release of the License Renewal documents.
3. The DWMRC has taken 10 years to review the License Renewal. A few more months
will not interfere with the operation of the White Mesa Mill or cause an unacceptable
burden on the Licensee, Energy Fuels Resources (USA), Inc.

4. Information is still needed to resolve some very important issues related to the use of
mine water from Arizona at the mill. Questions have been asked, but I have not received
answers.
5. Information is still needed to resolve some very important issues related to the
DWMRC compliance with the requirements of the Atomic Energy Act at Section 202l(o)
6. The community of White Mesa needs additional time to involve affected community
Therefore, additional time is needed to provide informed public comments to the
DWMRC on the White Mesa Mill draft license, Reclamation Plan, alternate feed license
amendment, and other relevant documents.
Thank you for your consideration of this request.
