For future correspondence, please reference Case No. 18-2046
Dear Mr Johnson, The Utah State Historic Preservation Office received your request for our comment on the above-
referenced undertaking on October 04, 2018.
We concur with your determinations of site eligibility for this phase of the project. Further, to better understand the nature of the archaeological sites and potential effects we concur that the proposed testing plan is adequate. Please ensure that the archaeological consultant acquire a Data Recovery
permit from Public Lands Policy Coordinating Office for this proposal, in the chance of encountering
human remains during testing. Utah Code 9-8-4-4(1)(a) denotes that your agency is responsible for all final decisions regarding cultural resources for this undertaking. Our comments here are provided as specified in U.C.A. 9-8-4-4(3)(a)(i).
If you have questions, please contact me at 801-245-7263 or by email at cmerritt@utah.gov.
Sincerely,
Christopher W. Merritt, Ph.D. Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer
