Dear Mr. Frydenlund:
During the extended public comment period for the relicensing of the White Mesa Uranium Mill
(Mill), the issue of emergency notification to the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe (Tribe), with a tribal
community adjacent to the mill, has arisen again and again. Toxic material spills on public
roadways, visible air emissions from the facility, and major releases of radioactive materials and
potential emergencies have all been discussed by the Tribe amongst ourselves and with the State
The Tribe believes it is Energy Fuels duty to notify them in these instances. In an effort to assist
Energy Fuels to make the necessary contacts during such undesirable events and emergencies, I
am providing a contact list of staff people who work for the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe and the
Bureau of Indian Affairs dispatch number to contact in addition to your existing call list when
there is a spill or other threat to the public health or environment on or near White Mesa.
