RE: Follow-up to an email correspondence dated September 27,2010
Dear Mr. Frydenlund:
On September 27, 2010, the Utah Divisionof Radiation Control (DRC) sent an email message to
David Turk that you were copied on regarding a complaint that the DRC received of equipment
being stored in a field on the North side of the Edgar Cutoff Road approximately one mile East of
the Ucolo Road intersection. DRC staff visited the site and through subsequent conversations
with White Mesa Mill employees, the DRC was able to determine that the equipment belongs to
Denison Mines (USA) Corp. (Denison). Denison did not respond to the email dated September 27,
2010. The DRC requests the following information:
1. Where does the equipment come from? (i.e. White Mesa Mill, Mining operations)
2. If the equipment is from the White Mesa Mill, can the licensee provide radiological
surveys of the equipment?
3. Is there a potential that this equipment is radiologically contaminated?
Please provide a response to this letter by July 22, 2011. If you have any questions please contact
Ryan Johnson at (801) 536-4250 or at rmjohnson@utah.gov.
Sincerely,
Rusty Lun3berg, Division Direcwr
