Discharge Permit No UGW370004, Final Approval and Closeout
On October 20, 2011 the Utah Division of Radiation Control (DRC) received through email a
single-sheet as-built plan for new concrete pads for drum management at the Altemate Feed Area
at the DUSA White Mesa Uranium Mill, near Blanding, Utah The pads were designed and
constructed to address a portion of the September 1, 2011 DRC Request for Information and
Confirmatory Action Letter, Storm water Inspection
DRC understands the project to include placement of concrete flatwork as a management surface
for drums of feedstock The pads include low-profile rolled curb at the penphery to provide
matenal containment for spills that may occur The pads slope to existing drain sumps, thus
preventing spilled feedstock matenal fi-om washing onto surrounding soils Dunng a visit to the
site on October 4, 2011, DRC Staff observed the pad construction in process, noting compliance
with the design plan approved in the DRC letter dated September 30, 2011
DRC has reviewed the submitted plan for conformance with the intent of Part I D 11 of the White
Mesa Uranium Mill Ground Water Discharge Permit No UGW370004 (Permit) and finds the plan
to comply with this Permit requirement and the conditions of approval extended in the September
20, 2011 Conditional Approval Letter Therefore, the as-built plan is hereby approved With this
approval, DUSA may place the pads mto service
