RE: Motor Vehicle Scrap Broker Semiannual Mercurv Written Assurance
Dear Valued Customer:
As a broker of motor vehicle scrap to your company, for the reporting period of July l,
2023 through December 31, 2023, DJJ confirms that it participates in the National
Vehicle Mercury Switch Removal Program (NVMSRP). We will procure motor vehicle
scrap for Nucor only from scrap suppliers that have signed up for and participate in the
NVMSRP or another EPA-approved program. We will confirm this on a semiannual basis.
Upon request, DJJ will provide you with information regarding scrap supplier
participation in the NVMSRP or other EPA-approved program.
We are assuming that you are using the compliance option under 40 CFR 63.10685 (b)
(2) for mercury, but if not, then please send us a copy of your site-specific plan for mercury
switches if you have made any changes in the last 6 months.
Should you identiff any issue of non-conformance by a scrap supplier that DJJ
brokered; at your request DJJ will implement corrective action per the terms of your pollution
prevention plan. If requested, DJJ will confirm to you in writing that it has implemented
such corrective action against the scrap supplier.
