I’m pinching myself that this got done in FY24—which was the due-date for the next Pallas Yard FYR.

Upon arrival to the project in January 2024 (with staff-reorganizations underway in both EPA (Remedial and ORC) and
UDEQ-DERR), I was briefed into the efforts that had been setting the stage for this accomplishment; I’d like to give big
shoutouts to those who really achieved this:
Kayleen Castelli and Doug Bacon (the organizers of the strategy and pieces-parts)
Frans Costanzi (for invaluable coordination with HQ amidst OSRTI staff re-orgs)
Bill Reese and DERR’s state-staff, coordinating with UTA (finalizing the Site Monitoring & Materials Management
Plans and updating the Environmental Covenant)
And all within SEMD-Remedial and ORC who got this over the goal-line during the FY24/Q4 red-zone push.

I’ll be in touch with Kayleen and Dianna as DERR files the EC and we update SEMS and the Site Profile Page regarding
this action.

I wanted to make sure you had seen this. The Region has received approval to discontinue FYRs at the Pallas Yard site
and received approved to not perform the 2024 FYR or any FYR moving forward. Thank you!

Thank you to your team for notifying headquarters of the determination that no further Five-Year Reviews are required for
the Pallas Yard Superfund site. We received your memo dated September 19, 2024, and agree with your determination to
discontinue discretionary FYRs for this non-NPL removal only site. We appreciate all the work Region 8 did to document
and close out FYRs for this site.

Please have your staff reach out to Jennifer Edwards if you have any further questions on the FYR or need assistance
updating SEMS.
