Subject:Plan Approval, 400,000 Gallon Upper Tank (ST008);
Cottonwood Mutual Water Company, System #15013, File #13645
Dear Jason Bradford:The Division of Drinking Water (the Division) received the plans and specifications from you for the proposed 400,000-gallon Upper Tank on March 12, 2024. Written
review comments were provided to you on March 22, 2024. The Division received the revised plans and specifications on April 10, 2024, and April 15, 2024. This project has met the conditions
for receiving a plan approval.
Plan Approval
Our understanding of the project includes:
The construction of a 400,000-gallon reinforced concrete water storage tank (identified as ST008 in the Division’s database). This tank will provide storage for 291 ERCs in future development
located in upper-pressure zones.
The construction of a valve vault, 6-inch diameter ductile iron pipe (DIP) tank inlet line, 12-inch diameter DIP tank outlet line, 6-inch diameter DIP overflow line, 6-inch diameter
DIP tank drain line, and 4-inch diameter PVC drain line.
A 14-inch diameter transmission line will convey flow from a pump station to the tank and from the tank to a distribution system. The 14-inch diameter transmission line, pump station,
and distribution system will be submitted in a future submittal and are not within the scope of this project.
We have completed our review of the plans and specifications, stamped, and signed byJason Bradford, P.E., dated April 10, 2024, and find they basically comply with the applicable portions
of Utah’s Administrative Rules for Public Drinking Water Systems in R309. On this basis, the plans for the 400,000 Gallon Upper Tank are hereby approved.
This approval pertains to construction only. An Operating Permit must be obtained from the Director before the 400,000 Gallon Upper Tank may be put in service. A checklist outlining
the items required for operating permit issuance is enclosed for your information.Approvals or permits from the local authority or the county may be necessary before beginning construction
of this project. As the project proceeds, a notice of any changes in the approved design, as well as any change affecting the quantity or quality of the delivered water, must be submitted
to the Division. We may also conduct interim and final inspections of this project. Please notify us when actual construction begins so that these inspections can be scheduled.
This approval must be renewed if construction has not begun or if substantial equipment has not been ordered within one year of the date of this letter.
Please maintain a copy of this letter with your permanent records for future reference.
If you have any questions regarding this approval, please contact Rebecca Yoo, of this office, at (801) 388-3594, or me at (385) 515-1464.
Sincerely,
Michael Newberry, P.E.
