This is the paragraph that we are considering to add to section 3.2.2.6 Cell 4B of the White Mesa Reclamation
Plan to allow for Clean Closure of Cell 4B. Please let me or Kathy know what you think before we send the paper
copy.
Alternatively, if Cell 4B does not contain tailings solids at the time of reclamation, a clean closure will be
conducted. This clean closure will include, as necessary, dewatering, raffinate crystal removal, synthetic liner
and associated infrastructure removal, removal of contaminated soils, and drainage channel (dike breach)
construction. These reclamation tasks will be conducted in accordance with Section 2.1, 2.2 of Attachment A
which describes the clean closure activities within Cell 1. Additional reclamation specifications pertaining to the
clean closure of Cell 1 are located in Section 3.2.2.2 of this Reclamation Plan and would be applicable to the
clean closure of Cell 4B. Under clean closure no disposal of contaminated material or debris would be placed
within Cell 4B.
