RE: Notification of Proposed Soil Disturbance - Cultural Resource Surveys Rio Algom Mining LLC – Lisbon Facility
For future correspondence, please reference Case No. 25-1788 Dear Douglas,
The Utah State Historic Preservation Office received a request from Rio Algom Mining LLC for our
comment on the above-referenced undertaking on August 28, 2025. From the provided materials, RAML has previously inventoried the Area of Potential Effects, and has adequately avoided any impacts to cultural resources in their drilling plan. Our office concurs with a
finding of “no historic properties” affected for this proposed undertaking.
Utah Code 9-8-404(1)(a) denotes that your agency is responsible for all final decisions regarding cultural resources for this undertaking. Our comments here are provided as specified in U.C.A. 9-8-404(3)(a)(i). If you have questions, please contact me at 801-245-7263 or by email at
cmerritt@utah.gov.
Sincerely,
Christopher W. Merritt, Ph.D.
