Subject:Operating Permit, Bristlecone Storage Overflow Modifications (ST001); Bristlecone, System #09077, File #12939, SRF #3F1822
Dear Dave AminThe Division of Drinking Water (the Division) received a request for an Operating Permit for the Bristlecone Storage Overflow Modifications from James Saunders, Jones &
DeMille Engineering, on July 24, 2025. The Division received the plans and specifications on July 21, 2023and issued Plan Approval for this project on August 14, 2023. In lieu of a site
visit, the Division received photos of the completed construction.
Our understanding of the project included cutting and capping the existing overflow of the Bristlecone Storage (ST001) at about half the length of pipe and rerouting the overflow to
drain next to the access road into a ditch. The overflow discharges to a new head wall with a #4 mesh screen on the end of the overflow pipe and an 18-inch freefall to the ditch.
We have received the following information for Bristlecone Storage Overflow Modifications:
Certification of Rule Conformance with plan approval conditions by a professional engineer.
As-built or record drawings.
Photos of completed construction.
We have determined that all conditions for operating permit issuance have been met. On this basis, an Operating Permit for the Bristlecone Storage Overflow Modificationsis hereby issued
as constituted by this letter.
Please maintain a copy of this letter with your permanent records for future reference.
If you have any questions regarding this Operating Permit, please contact J. Paul Wright, P.E., DEQ Southwest District Office, at (435) 986‑2590, or Michael Newberry, P.E., Permitting
