Yes SUMMARY: DERR met with Terracon on-site to oversee the trenching and sampling activities as part of site characterization. This is the third day of site work; however, the DERR did not visit the Site the previous day due to the state holiday. Terracon and the contractor only had a few test pits remaining to dig, which were primarily located on the eastern portion of the property. When DERR arrived, they were backfilling TP-15, located on the east side, just north of Phase I. DERR oversaw TP-16, 17, and 22 on that eastern side, where no debris was observed in the fill and native soil was located at approximately 2-3 feet below ground surface. No groundwater was encountered for these samples. The fill and native material were screened with a PID, and soil samples collected in accordance with the Workplan. The DERR also oversaw TP-13, which is located closer to the slopes of the landfill. Minor amounts of debris/trash were observed. Possible roofing shingles were observed in the fill and Terracon bagged the pieces to run for asbestos. Terracon expressed that this was the first sample collected so far for asbestos. Jill Hernandez with Terracon arrived at approximately 9:40 AM. When the DERR left, only two of the thirty test pits remained for soil samples (TP-17 and TP-11). The northern portion of the site was completed the day prior. Terracon expressed that debris was observed in the northwest corner, but primarily consisted of concrete, rocks, and bricks. DERR left the Site at 10:10 AM. PHOTO LOG: Photo 1: Backfilling for TP-15. Photo 2: TP-16 trench. Photo 3: TP-17 trench. Photo 4: TP-22 trench. Photo 5: TP-13 trench.
