FIELD OBSERVATIONS: The DERR arrived at the Site around 8:53 AM. The DERR met with the DAQ team and representatives of Ninigret and Wasatch Environmental. Ninigret and Wasatch provided a briefing on the current work ongoing at the Site, including asbestos identification and potential abatement efforts, before leading a tour of the Site. Teams at several work sites were observed excavating the individual landfill cells. The group stopped at one of these cells and Ninigret and Wasatch explained the removal process. The group also stopped to observe work at the leachate evaporator. Wasatch has apparently been sampling salts produced at the evaporator with an XRF. At the time of the visit, zirconium was detected above the residential RSL but below the industrial RSL. All other analytes were not detected above the residential RSL. The tour wrapped up at a cell that had already largely been excavated of waste. The group continued their discussion of the site’s asbestos monitoring efforts before returning to the operations trailer. The DERR left the Site around 10:26 AM.
