COX Governor DEIDRE HENDERSON Lieutenant Governor Department of Environmental Quality Tim Davis Executive Director DIVISION OF DRINKING WATER Nathan Lunstad, Ph.D., P.E. Director June 30th, 2025 Cody Watkins Ash Grove Cement Company PO BOX 38069 LEAMINGTON, UT 84638 Subject: Notice of Decreased Monitoring for Ash Grove Cement Company, UTAH12039 Cody Watkins: This letter serves as notification that the arsenic and TDS monitoring requirement for the Secondary Well (WS002) has been reduced to one sample for each parameter every three years. Additionally, the quarterly TDS monitoring requirement for the Primary Well (WS001) has also been reduced to one sample every three years. The updated source chemical monitoring requirements are below, enclosed and are available to view anytime online at waterlink.utah.gov. Please contact David Kruse at dbkruse@utah.gov or 385-566-7789 for questions regarding the source chemical monitoring requirements for this system. Decreased Arsenic Monitoring On March 20, 2024, the Secondary Well (WS002) detected arsenic at levels of 0.0121mg/L. The Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for arsenic is 0.010mg/L. This result triggered increased monitoring. Since then, four arsenic samples have been collected, with each sample result being below the MCL. Pursuant to R309-205-5(3)(h), the Secondary Well (WS002) now qualifies for reduced monitoring. Arsenic monitoring will be completed through routine sampling for the analytes included in the inorganics and metals group. The updated source chemical monitoring requirements for the Secondary Well (WS002) are given below and are available to view anytime on waterlink.utah.gov.
