Subject: Notice of Source Reactivation, Routine Monitoring Requirements for Manila Town
Water System, UTAH05003
Kathi Knight:
According to the Division of Drinking Water’s (the Division) records, Manila Town Water
System recently reactivated the Sols Canyon Well 2 (identified as WS009).
This does not change the monitoring requirements for this system as the Sols Canyon Well 2
(WS009) is sampled at a location which represents water produced form all of Manila Towns
water sources (Sampling Station – 01 08 09 12, facility ID SS985).
December 31, 2025, is the end of the current three year and six-year compliance cycle. As a result,
many chemical samples are due by this date. Please ensure that each is collected from the
Sampling Station – 01 08 09 12 (SS985) at a time while each source is providing water to the
common sampling location.
The current source chemical monitoring requirements for the Sampling Station – 01 08 09 12
(SS985) are given below, enclosed and are available to view anytime online at waterlink.utah.gov
under the Water Monitoring section. Please contact David Kruse at (385)-566-7789 or
dbkruse@utah.gov for questions regarding the source monitoring and reporting requirements for
this water system.

PFAS Information and Resources:
The EPA rule for PFAS requires that either method 533 or 537.1 version 2 are used for testing.
Please ensure that the chosen laboratory processes PFAS samples using one of these methods.
Additionally, the Division has resources to assist water systems in completing the PFAS initial
monitoring requirements. For more information on the resources the division can provide related
to PFAS initial monitoring please visit ddwpfas.utah.gov. For PFAS related questions, please
contact John Steffan at jtsteffan@utah.gov or (385) 499-3926.
Thank you for your efforts maintaining a clean drinking water system.
Sincerely,
Mark Berger
