Director February 19, 2025 Zachary Renstrom Washington County WCD – Sand Hollow 533 Waterworks Dr St George, UT 84770 Subject: Notice of Source Reactivation, Increased Monitoring Requirements for Washington County WCD – Sand Hollow, UTAH27073 Zachary Renstrom: According to the Division of Drinking Water’s (the Division) records, Washington County WCD – Sand Hollow recently reactivated the Sand Hollow Well 2 (identified as WS005) and the Sand Hollow Well Chlorinator (TP004). This reactivation changes the monitoring requirements for this system. The monitoring requirements for the Sand Hollow Well 2 (WS005) are given below. An updated monitoring schedule can be viewed any time at waterlink.utah.gov under the Water Monitoring section. Zachary Renstrom Page 2 of 2 February 19, 2025 Disinfection Monitoring & Reporting Requirements The system must comply with the following disinfection monitoring and reporting requirements as a result of reactivating the Sand Hollow Well #2 Chlorinator (TP004): 1) Chlorine Residual ‒ Point of Entry (POE) to Distribution System a) The POE sampling location is identified as EP004 in the Division’s database. The specific location will need to be provided to the Division. Maintain a minimum of 0.2 mg/L residual (measured as free chlorine) at the POE sampling location. [R309-215- 16(3)(b)(iii)(A)(I) and (II)] b) The chlorine residual concentration measured at the POE sampling location shall not exceed the maximum residual disinfectant level (MRDL) of 4.0 mg/L (measured as free chlorine). [R309-200-5(3)(c)(iv)] c) Record and report the lowest daily chlorine residual concentration, measured as free chlorine, at the chlorinator POE sampling location a minimum of daily. [R309-215- 10(1)] i) Our records show that your water system serves 425 people. Please be aware that R309-215-16(3)(b)(iii)(A)(II) requires water systems serving 3,300 people or fewer to monitor the POE chlorine residuals and take daily grab sample(s). Alternatively, instead of taking daily grab samples, a groundwater system serving 3,300 or fewer people may choose to use an online analyzer to continuously monitor the POE chlorine residuals entering the distribution system. Disinfection Report Submission To demonstrate ongoing compliance with secondary disinfection requirements, the water system must complete monthly operational reports for each active chlorinator using a template approved by the Division. The template can be found on the Division’s MRDL.utah.gov webpage. • Operational reports are submitted quarterly. The reports are due to the Division by the 10th day following the end of each reporting month or quarter (i.e., January 10th, April 10th, July 10th and October 10th for quarterly reports). The reports can be submitted on the Division’s online form along with the distribution system chlorine residuals. The form can be found on the Division’s MRDL.utah.gov webpage. Please contact Luke Treutel at (385) 258-6084 or ltreutel@utah.gov with any questions relating to disinfection monitoring and reporting.
