Subject: Notice of Routine Monitoring for Charleston WCD; UTAH26003
Luara Mair:
This letter serves as notification that the routine monitoring requirements for pesticides at the
Sampling Station – 01 02 (identified as SS190) have been established following the receipt of a pesticide sample collected on December 4, 2024. Sampling Station – 01 02 (SS190) represents the combined flows of the Upper Spring (WS001) and the Lower Spring (WS002). The updated monitoring requirements for the Sampling Station – 01 02 (SS190) are given below.
On June 27, 2024, the monitoring reduction waiver in place for pesticides was revoked due to Cascade Springs Drive running throughout source protection zones two and three. For this reason, the pesticide sampling requirement was reinstated. To determine the routine monitoring requirements for pesticides a single pesticide sample was needed. This sample was collected on
December 4, 2024, and the results showed no detection for regulated pesticides. These results
qualify the Sampling Station – 01 02 (SS190) for a pesticide requirement in which one pesticide sample is needed in each three-year compliance cycle. The next pesticide sample is due sometime between January 1, 2026, and December 31, 2028.
Below are the current monitoring requirements for Sampling Station – 01 02 (SS190). An updated
monitoring schedule can be viewed any time at waterlink.utah.gov under the water monitoring section.

Additionally, the Division has resources to assist water systems in completing the PFAS initial monitoring requirements. For more information on the resources the division can provide related to PFAS initial monitoring please visit ddwpfas.utah.gov. For PFAS related questions, please contact John Steffan at jtsteffan@utah.gov or (385) 499-3926.
