Unsure how spill occurred. Only roadway was impacted. UDOT and Timpanogos Special Service District are currently in route to clean up the spill. Caller notified Timpanogos Special Service of MS4 cleanup requirements for this spill. Biosolids Spill Report 250408 Page 1 | 3 MB&Sons trucking owner Batt Barton called me at 13:14 and informed me of a biosolids spill at the intersection of 850 east & Pioneer Crossing. The spill was less than a cubic yard of 15% biosolids and was isolated to the right lane. The nearest storm drain is circled in blue. The extent of the spill was contained to the location shown in orange. Approximately 13:30, Timpanogos staff arrived with 2 vac trucks. One was stationed down hill from the spill and one uphill. A dirt berm was built at the downhill truck to intercept water and biosolids. The downhill truck vacuumed all material washed from the uphill truck as shown in the photo. No water or biosolids were near stormwater inlets. Material recovered was fed back into TSSD treatment plant. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns. A brown soil looking material was sporadically dropping out from the rear liftgate. When he got home and out of his vehicle, his vehicle had an odor which smelled like sewage. Ran it through the carwash two times, though did not fully eliminate the odor. DO notified UDOT Region Stormwater Coordinator. UDOT said this sounds somewhat familiar - there has been an on-going issue with spills of bio-solids in which UDOT has been calling Timpanogos Special Service District (with personnel trained to remediate materials described) to dispatch and clean up similar incidents. They have been experiencing difficulty attempting manage the issue.
