Subject: Radioactive Material License UT2300249 Revised Request for Approval to
Use/Reuse Radiologically Contaminated Equipment
Dear Mr. Hansen:
EnergySolutions herein provides a revised request for approval from the Director of the
Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control (DWMRC) approval to receive
and use/reuse five Metal Tankers. In a letter dated March 25, 2025 (CD-2025-059),
EnergySolutions requested approval to Use/Reuse two metal tankers: ESUU6000098
“Flossie” and ESUU600101 “Buford” in accordance with EnergySolutions Clive
procedure CL-RS-PR-114; Receipt and Evaluation of Radiologically Contaminated
Material and Equipment for Use/Reuse at EnergySolutions.These two tankers along with
three additional tankers: ESUU600097 “Guernsey”, ESUU600099 “Elsie”, and
ESUU600102 “Lil Lucy” have arrived at the Clive Facility and are being stored at the
East Unloading Dock area in a posted Radioactive Material Area (RMA) within Section
32.
EnergySolutions plans to use the tankers for temporary storage/transfer needs at the Clive
Facility. The tankers were received from EnergySolutions Bear Creek Facility in Oak
Ridge, Tennessee. The tankers were used for transportation and or storage of
radiologically contaminated liquids.
A Radiological Screening Evaluation of Equipment for Reuse at the EnergySolutions
Clive Facility for the five Metal Tankers are attached. Revision 1 for ESUU6000098
“Flossie” and ESUU600101 “Buford” are being submitted along with the three additional
tankers: ESUU600097 “Guernsey”, ESUU600099 “Elsie”, and ESUU600102 “Lil Lucy”
It includes an updated and completed screening information regarding the equipment,
prior use of the equipment, potential isotopes within the equipment, dose and
contamination levels, and other pertinent information. A list of the attached documents
included are as follows:

associated shipping documents, L25-0684 Clive Informational Survey, and the
Nuclide Identification Report
Upon Division approval, the equipment will be logged and tracked in accordance with
CL-RS-PR-114;Receipt and Evaluation of Radiologically Contaminated Material and
Equipment for Use/Reuse at EnergySolutions.
