Dear Mr. Schon:
On January 27, 2025, the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control (the Division) received the 2024 Second Semi-Annual BAT Monitoring Report (the Report) (CD-2025-015, DRC-2025-000369)
in accordance with Part 1.H.20 of the Groundwater Quality Discharge Permit (the Permit).
During the Division’s review of the 2024 Semi-Annual BAT Monitoring Report, a few discrepancies (listed below) were noted that require clarification:
On the LLRW/11e.(2) dailyfacility inspection report for August 15, 2024, the BAT inspector listed that “95 for some reason pumped backwards supervisor notified”. No further mention of
this was found anywhere else in the report, nor in Table 2. Please provide more clarification on the manner of this issue and if/how it was resolved.
Two instances of BAT Failures were noted during the review, however neither of these were captured in Table 2.Even if these were resolved by the end of shift, they should be captured
in Table 2.
On the daily for December 30th, there was noted to be ponded water in the DU building and that it was subsequently cleaned up.
On the December monthly facility inspection, it was noted that a hole was found in a DU drum with ‘exposed DU’ and that it was patched by the end of shift.
