SITE NAME: Airport West / North Temple Landfill

SITE LOCATION: Salt Lake City

DATE OF SITE VISIT: 2 June 2025

PURPOSE OF SITE VISIT: DERR (David Bird) oversight of field activities at the Airport West VCP site.

FIELD OBSERVATIONS: On 2 June, at ~1 pm, the DERR met with Ninigret (Eric Rice and others) at the
on-site construction trailer. Stantec (David Cline) then arrived to collect soil samples from four
designated locations, as depicted on Figure 28 of the Phase I RAP. The results from these samples are to
indicate if further PFAS analysis is needed for the balance of the Phase I remediation confirmation
samples. Between ~1:30 and 2:20 pm, samples (NW-1 through NW-4) were collected from the soil
below the landfill waste to be analyzed for PFAS compounds.
The crushing of concrete in the southwest portion of the site was continuing.
The DERR left the site at ~2:30 pm.

Looking west/northwest at the soil excavated from below the municipal waste in location NW-1. The
WAIV Unit can be seen in the distant background. Stantec collected a soil sample from the interval
corresponding to ~8 to 10 inches below the waste.

Looking east at the NW-2 location where municipal waste was excavated. NW-1 and NW-2 are located
north of the planned repository footprint and very close to the northern boundary of Phase I. A soil
sample was collected corresponding to the interval ~8-10 inches below the waste.
