Subject: Water System Violation – Alton Town Water System, UTAH13001
Carrie Heaton:
The Division of Drinking Water records show this water system is in violation of the State of Utah Public
Drinking Water Rules as follows:
During the month of November 2023, Alton Town Water System exceeded the total coliform treatment technique
trigger specified in R309-211-8(1) and then failed to conduct and submit the required Level 1 Assessment to the
Division and take appropriate corrective actions within the timeframe specified in R309-211-8(2) and (3). This
violation results in the addition of 50 points to this water system’s Improvement Priority System Report (IPS) and
could adversely affect the rating of this water system.
According to our records, this water system had two or more total coliform-positive samples, exceeded 5 percent
total coliform positive samples for the month, failed to take every required repeat sample after a single total
coliform-positive sample, or failed to take every required repeat sample for a total coliform-positive sample.
To return to compliance and have the 50 IPS points removed from your IPS report, you need to complete a Level
1 Assessment, describing sanitary defects detected, corrective actions completed, and a proposed timetable for
any corrective actions not already completed. The assessment form may also note that no sanitary defects were
identified. Please contact Sitara Federico at (385) 515-1459 or sfederico@utah.gov if you have questions or need
assistance.
Sincerely,
Mark Berger
