Dear Mr. Dodson:
The Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control (Division) has completed its review of the Spill Database Information for calendar year 2023 (Report) for the Westinghouse Western
Zirconium facility (WZ) located in Weber County, Utah. Western Zirconium has submitted this information to fulfill a requirement established in a letter from the Division dated August
15, 2023. Item #2 in the Division letter requires WZ to continue to maintain a database of all chemical spills that occur onsite and provide the information to the Division at least
annually. The Report includes a record of all spills that occurred at the WZ facility, whether they occurred inside facility buildings and within containment areas or outside of the
facility buildings and outside containment.
This Report adequately addresses the requirements for providing annual spill database information established in the Division letter dated August 15, 2023. Please track the information
related to releases that will be addressed at plant closure to guide corrective actions.
