Dear Mr. Hansen:
EnergySolutions hereby responds to a Request for Information (RFI) received from the Director
of Waste Management and Radiation Control (DRC-2025-001157) on April 15, 2025, regarding
EnergySolutions’April 2, 2025, Request (via CD-2025-062) to Request for Modification to
Appendix C, CQA Plan for Collection Lysimeter Construction & Collection Lysimeter
Operation, Maintenance, and Closure Plan.
DIRECTOR’S REQUEST 1: Appendix C Part 2.3 Sampling of Free Liquids –Please
provide justification for the change in radiological sample volume.
EnergySolutions’ Response: Because EnergySolutions sends all samples to independent
offsite labs, the minimum volume requirements depend on the specific lab’s needs to
perform the required testing suites.
DIRECTOR’S REQUEST 2: CQA Plan Attachments –Please provide updated form
numbers for the referenced reports in the attachments to the modified CQA Plan.
EnergySolutions’Response: EnergySolutions has requested to modify the form numbers
referenced in the CQA Plan for Collection Lysimeter Construction due to those form
numbers changing. The new form numbers are listed below.
1. Daily Construction Report (CL-QC-PR-002-F2)
2. Field Density Test Form (CL-QC-PR-002-F5)
3. Soil Classification Form (CL-QC-PR-002-F8)
