Dear Mr. Rogers:
The Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control (Division) has received and reviewed the submitted2024 Annual As-Built Report (Report), dated November 25, 2024 (CD-2024-241/DSHW-2024-009345).
The Division reviewed the submission as part of the 2024 Engineering Module 12.The Report, signed and sealed by a registered professional engineer for the State of Utah,contains a comprehensive
package of engineering drawings, calculations, and detailed report that encapsulates the summary of the facilities at Clive and primarily highlights the active waste embankments: 11e.(2),
Class A West, and Mixed Waste. The Report detailspertinent waste embankment characteristics such as permitted embankment capacity, waste volumes, and remaining airspace less surety &
overbuild volumes, grades, contours, survey monuments, and associated site infrastructure. Additionally, the Report is supplemented with calculations, recorded and tabulated data, and
field reports with photos to support the analysis discussed within the dialogue of the Report.
The Division has reviewed this submission and determined that additional information was required in order to expedite approval. The Division delivered a letter dated January 30, 2025
(DRC-2025-000117) to EnergySolutions to which they responded with a letter dated February 20, 2025 (CD-2025-034/DRC-2025-000616) resubmitting the entire package with appropriate revisions
addressing the RFIs.After review of the Report, the Division has determined that the annual 2024 As-Built Report submission is acceptable and within compliance of the requirements set
forth in the Groundwater Part B Permit EPA ID No. UTD982598898, Ground Water Quality Discharge Permit No. UGW450005, and Radioactive Material Licenses UT 2300249 and UT 2300478. The
Report submission is hereby approved.
