Subject:Operating Permit, Bumblebee Booster Station Modification Project (PF001); Bumblebee Water System, System #11089, File #13184
Dear Tracy Feltner:The Division of Drinking Water (the Division) received a request for an Operating Permit for the Bumblebee Booster Station Modification Project from Curtis Nielson,
Ensign Engineering, on April 24, 2025. The Division previously received the plans and specifications for the Bumblebee Booster Station Modification Project from Justin Christensen, Ensign
Engineering, on October 17, 2022. Written review comments and a request for additional project information was sent to you and your consultant on October 25, 2022. The Division received
the revised plans and specifications on November 8, 2022. Some additional information was requested that same day. The remaining documents and written information were received by the
Division on November 9, 2022. The Division issued Plan Approval for this project on November 21, 2022.
Our understanding of the project was to modify the existing Bumblebee Booster Station (PF001). The booster station had four pumps: One three horsepower (hp) jockey pump, two 25 hp pumps,
and one 75 hp pump for fire flow. The modifications added two new pumps. One is a Grundfos CR10-6, five hp jockey pump that will provide 60 gallons per minute (gpm) of flow at 80 psi
and a second PACO 10-4707 fire flow pump that will provide 1,000 gpm at 71 psi. The purpose of these new pumps is to provide additional pressure to the upper pressure zone of the Bumblebee
water system. As connections and demands have increased in the system, the existing pumps were not able to provide adequate pressure at all times to the upper portion of the system.
By isolating this upper zone with valves, these new pumps add increased pressure and redundancy to this upper area.
We have received the following information for Bumblebee Booster Station Modification Project (PF001):
Certification of Rule Conformance with plan approval conditions by a professional engineer.
As-built or record drawings.
Satisfactory bacteriological results as evidence of proper disinfection and flushing.
Evidence of O&M manual delivery.
We have determined that all conditions for operating permit issuance have been met. On this basis, an Operating Permit for Bumblebee Booster Station Modification Project is hereby issued
as constituted by this letter. You may now place this facility back in service in your water system.
Please maintain a copy of this letter with your permanent records for future reference.
If you have any questions regarding this Operating Permit, please contact J. Paul Wright, P.E., DEQ Southwest District Office, at (435) 986-2590, or Michael Newberry, P.E., Permitting
and Engineering Manager, at (385) 515-1464.
Sincerely,
Russell Seeley, P.E.
