Box 144830 Salt Lake City, Utah 84114-4830 Dear Mr. Davis: Subject: Consumer Confidence Report for South Willard Water Co. #02021. Enclosed is a copy of the South Willard Water Co. Consumer Confidence Report (CCR). It contains the water quality information for our water system for the calendar year 2024 or the most recent sample data. We have delivered this report to our customers by doing the following: ● Placing notice of the CCR in our annual meeting mailer and presenting the report at this meeting ● Placing a digital copy on our website, southwillardwater.org ● Providing copies of this report upon request ● Allowing review of the report at the water system president’s residence If you have any questions, please contact me at (801) 726-0134. Sincerely, Jared Monson President South Willard Water Company Annual Drinking Water Quality Report The South Willard Water Company (SWWC) is pleased to present its 2024 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report that contains important information about your drinking water. This report was prepared in accordance with the standards and regulations set by the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The regulations require all drinking water suppliers to provide the public with an annual statement describing the sources and quality of its water supply. Our goal is, and always has been, to provide a safe and dependable supply of drinking water. This report is divided into sections that contain the following information: ● Introduction to South Willard Water Company’s water sources. ● Water quality test results and information regarding our compliance with drinking water standards. ● Review of routine water monitoring. Sources of South Willard Water Company’s Water Supply South Willard Water Company currently has and manages two ground water sources: Reservoir Well and Maple Grove Springs. A Drinking Water Source Protection Plan is available at our office for review by SWWC customers. This protection plan provides information on potential sources of contamination and our water source protection areas. Ensuring a Safe and Reliable Water Supply South Willard Water Company is pleased to report that our drinking water meets all federal and state requirements. If you have any questions about this report or concerning your water supply, please call our office at (435) 730-6550 or send an email to SouthWillardWater@gmail.com. We want our members to be informed and confident about their drinking water. If you want to learn more, please attend any of our regularly scheduled meetings. They are generally held the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Willard City offices. There are many connections to our water distribution system. When connections are properly installed and maintained, concerns are very minimal. Unprotected cross connections are not allowed under the SWWC Drinking Water Source Protection Plan. Unapproved and improper piping changes or connections can adversely affect the safety of your drinking water. A cross connection may let polluted water or even chemicals circulate into your home’s water supply when not properly protected. This not only compromises the water quality but can also affect your health. Do not make or allow improper connections at your home. When unprotected cross connections are allowed to exist at your home, they will affect you and your family first. If you would like to learn more about safe cross connections, which will protect the quality of your water, contact us. Drinking Water Sampling and Monitoring Drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants does not necessarily indicate that water poses a health risk. More information about contaminants and potential health effects can be obtained by calling the EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Hotline: (800) 426-4791. Some people may be more vulnerable to contaminants in drinking water than the general population. Immuno-compromised persons such as persons with cancer undergoing chemotherapy, persons who 1 have undergone organ transplants, people with HIV/AIDS or other immune system disorders, some elderly, and infants can be particularly at risk from infections. These people should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers. EPA/CDC guidelines on appropriate means to lessen the risk of infection by Cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminants are available from: Safe Drinking Water Hotline: (800) 426-4791 South Willard Water Company routinely monitors for constituents in our drinking water in accordance with Federal and Utah State laws. The table below shows the results of our monitoring for the period of January 1st to December 31st, 2024. Many of the terms and abbreviations used in the table you may not be familiar with. To help you better understand these terms, we have provided the following definitions: Non-Detects (ND) - laboratory analysis indicates that the constituent is not present. ND/Low - High - For water systems that have multiple sources of water, the Utah Division of Drinking Water has given water systems the option of listing the test results of the constituents in one table, instead of multiple tables. To accomplish this, the lowest and highest values detected in the multiple sources are recorded in the same space in the report table. Parts per million (ppm) or Milligrams per liter (mg/l) - one part per million corresponds to one minute in two years or a single penny in $10,000. Parts per billion (ppb) or Micrograms per liter (ug/l) - one part per billion corresponds to one minute in 2,000 years, or a single penny in $10,000,000. Parts per trillion (ppt) or Nanograms per liter (nanograms/l) - one part per trillion corresponds to one minute in 2,000,000 years, or a single penny in $10,000,000,000. Parts per quadrillion (ppq) or Picograms per liter (picograms/l) - one part per quadrillion corresponds to one minute in 2,000,000,000 years or one penny in $10,000,000,000,000. Picocuries per liter (pCi/L) - Picocuries per liter is a measure of the radioactivity in water. Millirems per year (mrem/yr) - measure of radiation absorbed by the body. Million Fibers per Liter (MFL) - million fibers per liter is a measure of the presence of asbestos fibers that are longer than 10 micrometers. Nephelometric Turbidity Unit (NTU) - nephelometric turbidity unit is a measure of the clarity of water. Turbidity in excess of 5 NTU is just noticeable to the average person. Action Level (AL) - the concentration of a contaminant which, if exceeded, triggers treatment or other requirements which a water system must follow. Treatment Technique (TT) - (mandatory language) A treatment technique is a required process intended to reduce the level of a contaminant in drinking water. Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) - (mandatory language) The “Maximum Allowed” (MCL) is the highest level of a contaminant that is allowed in drinking water. MCLs are set as close to the MCLGs as feasible using the best available treatment technology. Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG) - (mandatory language) The “Goal” (MCLG) is the level of a contaminant in drinking water below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MCLGs allow for a margin of safety. Date- Because of required sampling time frames (yearly, 3 years, 4 years and 6 years), sampling dates may seem out of date. Waivers (W) - Because some chemicals are not used or stored in areas around drinking water sources, some water systems have been given waivers that exempt them from having to take certain chemical samples; these waivers are also tied to Drinking Water Source Protection Plans 2 TEST RESULTS Contaminant Violation Y/N Level Detected ND/Low/High Unit Measurement MCLG MCL Date Sampled Likely Source of Contamination Microbiological Contaminants Total Coliform Bacteria N ND N/A 0 Presence of coliform bacteria in 5% of monthly samples monthly Naturally present in the environment Fecal coliform and E. coli N ND N/A 0 a routine sample and repeat sample are total coliform positive, and one is also fecal coliform or E. coli positive monthly Human and animal fecal waste Turbidity for Ground Water Maple Grove Spring: Reservoir Well: N N .07 .04 NTU N/A 5 11-05-19 Soil runoff Turbidity for Surface Water N N/A NTU N/A 0.5 in at least 95% of the samples and must never exceed 5.0 Soil Runoff (highest single measurement & the lowest monthly percentage of samples meeting the turbidity limits) Radioactive Contaminants Alpha emitters N 9.7 pCi/1 0 15 11-19-19 Erosion of natural deposits Beta emitters* N 6.2 pCi/l 0 50 11-19-19 Erosion of natural deposits 3 Combined radium N 0.33 pCi/1 0 5 12-03-19 Erosion of natural deposits *Beta Particles: The MCL for beta particles is 4 mrem/year. In no case shall water having a level above 1000 ppm be used. **If TDS is greater than 1000 ppm the supplier shall demonstrate to the Utah Drinking Water Board that no better water is available. The Board shall not allow the use of an inferior source of water if a better source is available. In addition to the sampling outlined in the table above, we have also sampled for (21 Volatile Organic Chemicals, 28 Pesticides, 35 Unregulated Organic Chemicals and 10 Unregulated Pesticides). These additional chemicals were not detected. All sources of drinking water are subject to potential contamination by constituents that are naturally occurring or are man made. Those constituents can be microbes, organic or inorganic chemicals, or radioactive materials. Drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants does not necessarily indicate that water poses a health risk. More information about contaminants and potential health effects can be obtained by calling the EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Hotline: (800) 426-4791. MCLs are set at very stringent levels. To understand the possible health effects described for many regulated constituents, a person would have to drink 2 liters of water every day at the MCL level for a lifetime to have a one-in-a-million chance of having the described health effect. Some people may be more vulnerable to contaminants in drinking water than the general population. Immunocompromised persons such as persons with cancer undergoing chemotherapy, persons who have undergone organ transplants, people with HIV/AIDS or other immune system disorders, some elderly, and infants can be particularly at risk from infections. These people should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers. EPA/CDC guidelines on appropriate means to lessen the risk of infection by cryptosporidium and other microbiological contaminants are available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791). As you can see above, we had no violations in our system and that your drinking water meets or exceeds all Federal and State requirements. 6 This page left intentionally blank 7 Attn: Natani Woods Phone: Fax: Email:Willard, UT 84340 (435) 723-0304 Certificate of Analysis Chemtech-Ford Laboratories Serving the Intermountain West Since 1953 24A0466Work Order:South Willard Water Company 380 West 7425 South southwillardwater@gmail.com (435) 730-6550 Sample ID:Sample Type:Report to State:Yes Lab #: 8850 S Hwy 89 (Suite 1) 24A0466-01 Routine Sampled:1/8/24 8:56 Sampled By:Stacy Younger Field Res.
