SUMMARY: This site visit was to observe groundwater sampling for the September 2024
event. When DERR arrived, Tetra Tech was working on well MW-12D. MW-12S is no longer
present and may have been destroyed during the recent building expansion. Molly Wabel from
Chromalox stopped by during well purging and the DERR requested for Chromalox to follow-up
on the status of MW-12S.
While purging MW-12D, the water quality meter was producing unusually high pH numbers.
Tetra Tech believed this was a calibration error (for pH only) and made note of it in the field
forms. Tetra Tech finished sampling for MW-12D and would pick sampling back up in the
morning once the meter was calibrated. Tetra Tech also noted that MW-12D was the only well
that day that experienced issues with the water quality meter. Tetra Tech had already purged and
sampled wells MW-20, MW-10B, MW-16, MW-19, GMW-8, MW-18, and MW-17. MW-19
was previously thought to be lost but was rediscovered from the recent construction. MW-19 was
not sampled during the 2023 and 1st 2024 events.
Samples were collected, labeled, individually bagged, and placed on ice. Previous reports by the
laboratory Chemtech Ford have reported to the MRL, rather than the MDL which is stated in the
QAPP. The DERR requested that Tetra Tech make note to ask for the MDL on the COC form.
