Did the system implement any land management strategies, such as public education, for residential properties between 2017 and 2022? The original DWSP plan lists residential properties as an uncontrolled potential contamination source (PCS) and therefore agreed to distribute public education material to residences within the protection zones. As per source protection rules, the system should implement these land management strategies at least once per update cycle (six years). A copy of the distributed documentation should be included in each update and the date of distribution mentioned. Below is a screenshot from the original DWSP plan. If this has not been done, please do so as soon as possible and share in this email what was distributed and when. I can concur with this update once this is received. I can provide a 90- day courtesy before I send a formal disapproval letter. Let me know if there are any questions. Here is the public informaon that we have done in the 2017 to 2022 era. I dont know if it exactly matches what you sent me but we have really been trying to get more informaon out to our cizens. Let me know what you find. Over the last 5 years or so we have done a Water Fesval yearly and an Emergency Preparedness Fair that I have had a booth at. I try to incorporate all of the items with water and public safety. I have made many flyers and have had resources there. Here are a few of them. We have been going through a sewer master plan and working with cizens on items that can and cant go down the sewers alot over the last 5 years or so. I'm going to concur with the update since it appears that the system made some effort. As you know, the goal of the land management strategies outlined in the DWSP plan is to educate unprotected contamination sources (residents) of the protection zones and inform them that how they use, store, and dispose of chemicals could potentially impact their drinking water. In the next update, please provide record-keeping showing that the system distributed public education material to residents within the protection zones. Many water systems do this by including the attached factsheets as a bill stuffer or by adding this language to their CCR. Public education can also be accomplished by including a link in their mailers directing readers to source protection information and fact sheets on the water system's website. Salt Lake City has a good example of this method you can reference here. The Division makes sure that water systems are implementing their management strategies at least once every update cycle (six years). Water systems should show they are implementing these strategies in each update they submit. You can expect to see a formal concurrence email for this update in the next few weeks. Let me know if you have any questions.
