SOURCE INFORMATION
General Description
R & S Marble Inc. is the owner of a Cultured Marble Facility in Brigham City, Box Elder County. This
facility produces and installs cultured marble for kitchen and bathroom surfaces, including showers,
countertops, and bathtubs. The manufacturing process begins with mold preparation. Using a pressure pot
and spray gun (in the spray booth), a mold is prepared by applying 15-20 mils of gel coat onto a mold.
Polyester resin is then measured by weight and placed in the mixing bowl of an upright column mixer.
The resin is catalyzed and mixed for a predetermined time based on the total batch size. The appropriate
size and type of fillers are added to the batch and mixed thoroughly to achieve proper wetting of the filler
and consistency of the matrix. One (1) or more color pigments are added to the matrix to achieve a veined
pattern. The material is then drawn from the bowl and cast on the previously gel-coated mold to achieve
the desired effects. When the casting process is completed and the product has cured, the finished product
is released from the mold. The final step is to grind off-mold flash.

the source underwent an undocumented ownership change in 2012. The source provided documentation
of this ownership change on August 14, 2024. The DAQ is updating the company name from "Custom
Interior Solutions" to "R & S Marble Inc." accordingly.

II.B.2 VOC & HAP Requirements II.B.2.a The owner/operator shall not emit more than the following from all plant-wide operations:

A. 1.31 tons per rolling 12-month period of VOCs.
B. 1.31 tons per rolling 12-month period of styrene.

II.B.2.a.1 The owner/operator shall calculate a new 12-month total by the 20th day of each month based on the first day of each month and using data from the previous 12 months. The owner/operator shall use a mass-balance method to calculate emissions from evaporative sources. The owner/operator may use the following equations with applicable units to comply with the mass-balance method: VOCs = [% VOCs by Weight/100] x [Density] x [Volume Consumed]. HAP = [% HAP by Weight/100] x [Density] x [Volume Consumed]. [R307-401-8]
II.B.2.a.2 The owner/operator shall use a mass-balance method to quantify any amount of VOCs and HAPs
reclaimed. The owner/operator shall subtract the amount of VOCs and HAPs reclaimed from the quantities calculated above to provide the monthly total emissions of VOCs and HAPs.

R & S Marble manufactures, sells, and installs cultured marble

third is a dust collector associated with grinding operations that vents
externally to a covered metal drum.
There is also a paint booth on site. Filters were pr$ent and are changed as
needed or on a monthly basis, whichever comes first.
II.B Reouirements and Limitations
Visible emissions from any stationary point or fugitive emission source associated with the
source or with the control ibcilities shall not exceed l}Yo opacity. Opacity observations of
emissions from stationary sources shall be conducted in accordance with 40 CFR 60, Appendix

The following limit shall not be exceeded:

the plant is in operation. Styrene resin consumption shall be determined by glaqination of
company purchasing records. The records of styrene resin consumption shall be kept on a

period of March 2022 -February 2023 was 2,415 gallons. Records are kept when the plant
is in operation and determined by purchasing records.
The emissions from all plant-wide operations shall not exceed:

The VOC or HAP emissions shall be detennined by maintaining a record of VOC or HAP
emitting materials used each month. The record shall include the followingdatafor each

A. Name of the VOC, or FIAPs emitting material, such as: paint, adhesive, solvent, thinner,
reducers, chemical compounds, toxics, isocyanates, etc.
B. Density of each material used (pounds per gallon)
C. Percent by weight of all VOC, or HAP in each material used
D. Gallons of each VOC, or HAP emitting material used
E. The amount of VOC, or IIAP emitted monthly by each material used shall be calculated
by the procedure specified in 40 CFR 63 Subpart WWWW, Table I (This source is not
subject to this MACT standard, but the prescribed procedures are the only acceptable
method of calculating emissions from this industry activity.)
F. The amount of VOC, or HAP emitted monthly from all materials used
G. The amount of VOCs, or HAPs reclaimed for the month shall be similarly quantified and
subtracted from the quantities calculated above to provide the monthly to-tal VOC, or

It has never been custom interiors.
We have been here for 12 years. The previous company went bankrupt. Custom interiors managed it for a bit.
So in 2012 we came and started the marble in the building again
So please keep it only as R& S Marble. Not formally custom interiors.
