Notification of Liquid Waste Spill
Dear Mr. Hansen,
EnergySolutions herein provides the Director of the Utah Division of Waste Management and
Radiation Control with 24-hour notification of a potential discrepancy from two intermodals from
Generator 9088-30-0215. The two intermodals (ESUU100585 and ESUU100454) Bates Number
PR010067, arrived on February 13, 2025 and were being stored in the Restricted Area while they
awaited the Deferred Chemical (DC Sample) analysis results. Operations was preparing the
intermodals for management when the leaks were identified. The Contingency Plan was
implemented on March 4, 2025, the spill was contained, and the containers were moved to the Class
A West Embankment for management.
Intermodals ESUU100585 and ESUU100454 were loaded by the generator at the same time as the
previously identified leaking intermodal (reported in CD-2025-030 and CD-2025-038) and arrived at
the Clive facility the day before. No leaks were identified in these intermodals at the time of receipt.
Condition Report # CR-2025-0178 has been generated previously and will be used to track
resolution of this discrepancy. An investigation into this matter has been initiated. Please consider
this the 24-hour notice. Copies of the gamma-spectroscopy and radiological surveys will be provided
in the 7-day follow up notification.
