Pictures showing the source of the dust will help the best. Here is our complaint form: https://deq.utah.gov/air-quality/complaint-form-stationary-source-compliance [Quoted text hidden] --Jeremiah R. Connor said he received five complaints. I'm watching the weather as I won't be of much assistance with dust complaints visiting there when it's raining or snowing. I can give you a call later if you'd like and discuss my findings. However, I do not have your phone number. I did not find any areas that looked concerning. I observed the water truck active upon my arrival, and as I drove to the office building I noticed it watering an area that was already damp. This is a good sign and shows they are being proactive, even in still cooler temperatures. My visit was unannounced so this wasn't them watering just because I was visiting. They maintain watering logs which verify proactive dust control measures. The paved areas appeared well controlled. As I mentioned on our phone call, Wasatch Integrated contracts with a sweeping company for regular dust control measures in these areas. I took an escorted ride around the landfill and the inactive areas appeared well re- vegetated. I did not observe any obvious problem areas around the back side (north, facing South Weber) where dust might be anticipated by higher winds. It appeared sufficiently covered in vegetation, with the exception of access roads that appeared little used. There are open dirt piles in the south west corner that appeared to have been watered regularly as they had a crust covering. The active dumping area appeared sufficiently watered and produced no visible dust. Many trucks and landfill equipment were active in this area. It is uncommon in my experience to have zero dust coming from active dumping areas. As you can imagine, it may be harder to control a higher traffic area as vehicles are continuously moving in and out of where a water truck would need to spray. Not to say there is commonly excessive dust in these areas, but at minimum a bit of dust kicked up from tires that quickly settles. I did not observe even this small amount of dust at Wasatch Integrated's active dumping area. Landfill management stated they try their best to be good neighbors and offered their phone numbers so you and others can call when you suspect an issue. They say many residents around them have utilized this in the past, for dust complaints and smell (although they stated they had not received an odor complaint in some time). This, of course, is not your duty to call them but it is an option available and likely the quickest way to get results.
