HomeMy WebLinkAboutDERR-2024-005532TIMELINE Carbon County-Pappas Site Former Highway Service Station 725 North Carbonville Road (Highway 55), Price, Utah Facility #5000506 Release MCZ March 4, 1917 – Consultant Terracon’s first transfer on title search is John and Edith Prince conveying the property by warranty deed to Dom (probably Dominic) Fassio. June 8, 1925 – Dom Fassio conveys by warranty deed a property interest (probably joint ownership to wife Emilia Fassio. 1926 James Fassio son of Dominic and Emilia Fassio marries Glenda Fassio. 1926 to 1931 - According to Glenda’s obituary they ran the Highway Service station on the site after they married. Sometime in this timeframe James and Glenda began the service station. 1931 – James and Glenda enter a lease agreement with The Texas Company (Texaco). 1936 – Belmont Richards, a Price oil distributor enters some kind of lease related to the site with Sinclair Refining Company. April 19, 1937 – Dominic and Emilia Fassio convey by warranty deed an interest to the property to James Fassio and Glenda Fassio. Aug. 24, 1944 – James Fassio dies from drowning. October 18, 1944 – Dominic & Emilia convey by quitclaim deed their remaining interest in the property to Glenda Fassio. December 30, 1946 – Estate of James Fassio (his property interest) given by court decree to Glenda Fassio and surviving daughters Verna & Joanne Fassio. May 18-20, 1948 - Verna & Joanne Fassio convey their interest in property to Glenda Fassio. June 26, 1956 - Glenda Fassio conveys property by warranty deed to James Pappas and Lucile Pappas. According to Lucile’s obituary they owned and operated the Hi-way Texaco Gas and Grocery. Mid to late 1960s - The gas station is closed down including removal of pumps. USTs are abandoned in place and forgotten. December 8, 1968 – James Pappas died. December 16, 1978 – Lucile Pappas conveys property by warranty deed to her son Bill Pappas. December 24, 1980 – Bill Pappas died. February 26, 1982 – Probate of Bill Pappas’ estate established an ownership or possessory interest in the property to Gerald and Shelley Pappas (presumably Bill’s son and daughter heirs). February 18, 1988 – Shelley Pappas as part of settling the estate quit claim deeds her property interest over to Gerald Pappas. March 22, 1995 – Final settlement of Bill Pappas estate conveys property ownership by warranty deed to Gerald Pappas and Debra Pappas. August 1, 1995 – Lucile Pappas died. June 27, 1999 – Glenda Fassio died. September 13, 2006 – Abandoned USTs are discovered during Carbon County irrigation/road piping upgrade. The county removed tanks, discovered release MCZ and remove as much contaminated soil it could without risking damaging building.
