4.00 DOCUMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
4.01 THESE STRUCTURAL DOCUMENTS, TOGETHER WITH THE CONCEPTS AND DESIGNS PRESENTED HEREIN, AS AN INSTRUMENT
OF SERVICE, ARE INTENDED ONLY FOR THE SPECIFIC PURPOSE AND CLIENT FOR WHICH IT WAS PREPARED. REUSE OF AND
IMPROPER RELIANCE ON THIS DOCUMENT WITHOUT WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION AND ADAPTATION BY KIMLEY-HORN AND

RELATIONSHIP TO THE STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS ONLY. ACCORDINGLY, THEY MUST NOT BE ASSUMED TO BE ACCURATE AND
REFERENCE MUST BE MADE TO THE APPROPRIATE CONSULTANT(S), PLANS, AND SPECIFICATIONS.
4.04 NOTES ON THIS AND THE FOLLOWING SHEETS ARE PART OF THE PROJECT REQUIREMENTS BUT ARE NOT INTENDED TO
REPLACE THE PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS. IN CASE OF CONFLICTS BETWEEN THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE SPECIFICATIONS
AND THESE NOTES, THE MORE STRINGENT REQUIREMENT MUST APPLY.
4.05 IT MUST BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO COORDINATE THE LOCATION OF EMBEDDED ITEMS, SLEEVES,
ANCHORS, AND PENETRATIONS AS REQUIRED AND/OR FURNISHED BY THE OTHER TRADES.
5.01 IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT THE CONTRACTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR INITIATING, MAINTAINING, AND SUPERVISING ALL
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND PROGRAMS IN CONNECTION WITH THE WORK ON THE PROJECT. THE CONTRACTOR MUST TAKE
ALL NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS FOR THE SAFETY OF THE PERSONS AND PROTECT THEM AGAINST INJURY. LIKEWISE, THE
CONTRACTOR MUST PROTECT ALL PROPERTY AGAINST DAMAGE OR LOSS.
5.02 THE CONTRACTOR MUST COMPLY WITH ALL APPLICABLE LAWS, ORDINANCES, RULES, REGULATIONS, AND ORDERS OF ANY
PUBLIC BODY HAVING JURISDICTION FOR THE SAFETY OF PERSONS OF PROPERTY.
5.03 THE CONTRACTOR'S DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE SAFETY AND PROTECTION OF THE WORK MUST CONTINUE
UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THE WORK IS SATISFACTORILY COMPLETED, AND THE ENGINEER OF RECORD HAS ISSUED A NOTICE TO
THAT EFFECT TO THE OWNER AND THE CONTRACTOR.

16.00 POST-INSTALLED ANCHORS
16.02 SUBSTITUTION REQUESTS FOR ALTERNATE PRODUCTS MUST BE APPROVED IN WRITING BY THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER OF
RECORD PRIOR TO USE. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE CALCULATIONS DEMONSTRATING THAT THE SUBSTITUTED PRODUCT IS
CAPABLE OF ACHIEVING THE PERFORMANCE VALUES OF THE SPECIFIED PRODUCT. SUBSTITUTIONS WILL BE EVALUATED BY

16.05 ANCHOR CAPACITY IS DEPENDENT UPON SPACING BETWEEN ADJACENT ANCHORS AND PROXIMITY OF ANCHORS TO EDGE OF
CONCRETE. INSTALL ANCHORS IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPACING AND EDGE CLEARANCES INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS.
16.06 EXISTING REINFORCING BARS IN THE CONCRETE STRUCTURE MAY CONFLICT WITH SPECIFIC ANCHOR LOCATIONS. UNLESS
NOTED ON THE DRAWINGS THAT THE BARS CAN BE CUT, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REVIEW THE EXISTING STRUCTURAL

REPLACE INSULATION THAT HAS BECOME WET AT ANY TIME DURING CONSTRUCTION,
DRYING THE INSULATION IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. SEAL ANY TEARS OR JOINTS OF
INTERNAL FIBERGLASS INSULATION. REMOVE DEBRIS FROM CEILING/RETURN AIR
PLENUM INCLUDING DUST. AN INDEPENDENT, PROFESSIONAL DUCT CLEANING
COMPANY SHALL VACUUM CLEAN ANY DUCTWORK CONNECTED TO HVAC UNITS THAT
WERE OPERATED DURING THE CONSTRUCTION PERIOD AFTER NEW FILTERS ARE
INSTALLED AND PRIOR TO TURNING SYSTEM OVER TO THE OWNER. THE INTERNAL
SURFACES AND ASSOCIATED COILS OF ANY HVAC UNITS THAT WERE OPERATED SHALL
ALSO BE CLEANED.
8.INSTALL DUCTWORK AND PIPING PARALLEL TO BUILDING COLUMN LINES UNLESS
OTHERWISE SHOWN OR NOTED.
9.OVERHEAD HANGERS AND SUPPORTS FOR EQUIPMENT, DUCTWORK AND PIPING SHALL
BE FASTENED TO BUILDING JOISTS OR BEAMS. DO NOT ATTACH HANGERS AND
SUPPORTS TO THE ABOVE FLOOR SLAB OR ROOF EXCEPT WHERE CONCRETE INSERTS
IN CONCRETE SLABS ARE ALLOWED BY THE SPECIFICATIONS.
10.COORDINATE LOCATION OF EQUIPMENT SUPPORTS WITH LOCATION OF EQUIPMENT

BE MINIMUM 26 GAUGE SHEET METAL.
17.PROVIDE FIRE OR FIRE/SMOKE DAMPERS, AS APPLICABLE, IN DUCTWORK AT CEILINGS
AND WALLS AT LOCATIONS SHOWN ON THE PLANS. FIRE AND FIRE/SMOKE DAMPERS
SHALL CONFORM TO NFPA AS APPLICABLE. COORDINATE SLEEVE LENGTH WITH
