Director March 26, 2024 KRAIG WILLIAM CHRISTENSEN BOUNTIFUL CITY WATER SYSTEM 260 W 1050 S BOUNTIFUL, UT 84010 Subject: Notice of Increased Volatile Organic Compounds Monitoring for BOUNTIFUL CITY WATER SYSTEM; UTAH06015 KRAIG WILLIAM CHRISTENSEN: A recent statewide audit was conducted on all source monitoring schedules to ensure conformity with applicable portions of R309-205. During the review, the Division of Drinking Water (the Division) found that a Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) sample was collected from VIEWMONT WELL (WS010) on 11/8/22. In that sample, TRICHLOROETHYLENE was detected at 0.8 µg/L. Although this is not above the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL), this result requires increased monitoring in accordance with R309-205-6(2)(j). Beginning the second quarter of 2024, BOUNTIFUL CITY WATER SYSTEM is now required to sample the VIEWMONT WELL (WS010) for Volatile Organics each quarter that the source provides water to the drinking water system. This requirement will remain in place until the system has submitted at least two (groundwater sources) or four (surface water sources) consecutive quarters of Volatile Organics samples in which the results are reliably and consistently below the MCLs. At that time the sample requirement will be reduced to one sample per year. Systems that have three consecutive annual samples with no detections of any Volatile Organics may apply to return to a one sample every three years schedule. These changes are reflected in the enclosed monitoring schedule and can be viewed anytime online at waterlink.utah.gov.
