Subject: Notice of Increased Asbestos Monitoring for SOLITUDE MOUNTAIN SKI AREA
LLC; UTAH18047

ONNALEA MARTIN:

A recent statewide audit was conducted on all source monitoring schedules to ensure conformity
with applicable portions of R309-205.

During the review, the Division of Drinking Water (the Division) found that the following source
is located within a naturally occurring asbestos formation:

• ALTA DRAIN TUNNEL SPRING (identified as WS001)

In accordance with R309-205-5(2)(a), this source is now required to be monitored for asbestos
once every nine years. Given that an asbestos monitoring schedule has not been in place until the
issuance of this letter, the first Asbestos sample will be due by 09/30/2024.

After the first sample is submitted, and it does not demonstrate an exceedance of the Asbestos
Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of 7 million fibers/liter, the next Asbestos sample will not
be due for another nine (9) years.

These changes are reflected in the enclosed monitoring schedule and can be viewed anytime
online at waterlink.utah.gov.
