Director March 18, 2024 JAY L BREMS AMERICAN FORK CITY 275 East 200 North AMERICAN FORK, UT 84003 Subject: Notice of Increased Volatile Organic Compounds Monitoring for AMERICAN FORK CITY; UTAH25008 JAY L BREMS: A recent statewide audit was conducted on all source monitoring schedules to ensure conformity with applicable portions of R309-205. During the review, the Division of Drinking Water (the Division) found the following sources detected the listed Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) on the given dates: Facility Name Facility ID Analyte Concentration Unit of Measurement Date of Sample ALPINE COUNTRY CLUB WELL WS008 XYLENES, TOTAL 0.8 µg/L 8/23/2022 GOLF COURSE WELL WS010 XYLENES, TOTAL 1.3 µg/L 8/9/2022 Although these results are not above the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL), the results require increased monitoring in accordance with R309-205-6(2)(j). Beginning in the second quarter of 2024, the sources listed above are required to be sampled for Volatile Organics each quarter that they provide drinking water to the system. This requirement will remain in place until the system has submitted at least two (groundwater sources) or four (surface water sources) consecutive quarters of Volatile Organics samples in JAY L BREMS Page 2 of 2 March 18, 2024 which the results are reliably and consistently below the MCLs. At that time the sample requirement will be reduced to one sample per year. Systems that have three consecutive annual samples with no detections of any Volatile Organics may apply to return to a one sample every three years schedule. These changes are reflected in the enclosed monitoring schedule and can be viewed anytime online at waterlink.utah.gov.
