Shelley Executive Director DIVISION OF DRINKING WATER Nathan Lunstad P.E. Director March 18, 2024 KYLE EVAN LOVELADY LA VERKIN CITY WATER SYSTEM 435 NORTH MAIN ST LA VERKIN, UT 84745 Subject: Notice of Increased Pesticide Monitoring for LA VERKIN CITY WATER SYSTEM; UTAH27009 KYLE EVAN LOVELADY: A recent statewide audit was conducted on all source monitoring schedules to ensure conformity with applicable portions of R309-205. During the review, the Division of Drinking Water (the Division) found that the appropriate pesticide schedule was not assigned to the facilities discussed below. In accordance with R309-205-6(1)(f)(A), community and non-transient non-community water systems serving a population greater than 3,300 persons shall take two (2) pesticide samples in two consecutive quarters during each three-year compliance cycle. According to the Division’s records, this system currently serves 4500 people and was previously on a one sample per three- year compliance cycle schedule. Your system's pesticide monitoring requirements have been increased to comply with R309-205-6. The following source(s) are now required to be sampled twice every three years: •ASH CREEK SPRING (listed as WS002 in the Divisions database), To fulfill the two pesticide sample requirements, systems must submit the second pesticide sample in the quarter following the quarter in which the first sample was collected. These changes are reflected in the enclosed monitoring schedule and can be viewed anytime online at waterlink.utah.gov. Please contact David Kruse at 385-566-7789 or dbkruse@utah.gov with any questions or concerns about the sampling requirements given above.
