That all sounds great. Yes, you can submit the updated plan to me via email.
Make sure to look at your original DWSP plan at the management strategies for uncontrolled Potential Contamination Sources (PCS). We will be looking at the update to make sure those strategies have been accomplished and that
there are records, in the record keeping section, that verify those strategies were implemented. Please, make sure to include when the management strategies were completed and any paperwork, such as bill stuffer, letters, etc.
Feel free to reach out with any questions.
Thanks, Melissa

I am the president of the Woodenshoe Water Company – a very small water company serving 23 connections near Oakley. I am preparing our update for the Drinking Water Source Protection plan which is due 12/31/2022.
Very little has changed within our Source Protection Zones in the 2 years since our current plan was approved. We are not aware of any new building within any of the protection zones within our plan, and the only activity that might
impact us was the installation of a piped and pressurized irrigation line that replaces an old open ditch. The new system has allowed all users to switch from flood irrigation to sprinklers which we believe has reduced water usage
and we find has reduced the infiltration to the alluvial material below and actually dried up a few seasonal springs and will slow the migration of any contaminates in our direction.
I will document this change and have found templates etc on the State website which will be helpful to do so, but I do not see where that final completed form should be submitted. Does it go to you?

Hi Bruce,
I'm reviewing the updated DWSP plan received on October 28, 2022. I see you provided a public education letter in the update, which is excellent, but there was no mention of the date(s) it was distributed. Could you please confirm that
the public education letter was distributed at least once between April 2020 and October 2022?
For future updates, the date(s) that public education is distributed should be mentioned in the implementation section (section 7) so that the Division can see that public education is being distributed to landowners with uncontrolled
potential contamination sources at least once every update cycle.
Thanks

Noah,
Thanks for your note.
Sorry for neglec ng the mailing date. I’ll have to go back and see if I missed a box on the response to your office or just what. Our secretary/Treasurer sent out that no ce following our management discussions of the need to do so.
Woodenshoe Water is a very small water company serving only 20+/- homes and our management is all volunteer. One of my biggest issues with the State is the lack of a complete site of list of what is required of us as water company. It seems to me that
each area of concern, tes ng, Consumer Confidence Report, Cross contamina on programs et are all managed by different departments, and you each have your own repor ng dates and mes and frankly it is hard to keep up and track of all that you need.
We want to do it all and do it right, but find we are occasionally surprised by some requirement that seems to pop up. Since our management rotates to different individuals, the new guys (me in this case) are le to learn it all on our own. Are you aware of a
site that contains a lis ng of ALL the state requirements for small water companies?
Thanks
Bruce Alder

Bruce,
I can understand your frustrations. No, unfortunately, there isn't a site developed yet that contains a listing of all requirements for every small water system. WaterLink has many of the system's requirements but some are not represented
like source protection. We rely on communications via standard mail and email to relay due dates for many of our programs and expect the system to keep track of those due dates. It can be difficult for systems to do so with only
volunteer resources. It is my understanding that the Division is working towards a site that will be more comprehensive but I am not aware of when that will actually be available to PWSs.
For source protection, the updated DWSP plans are due once every six years. With each concurrence letter we write, we include a due date for the next updated plan so that the system can save the date. We also send a reminder if that
due date is missed.
Since the public education letter was included in this updated plan, I will assume that it was distributed by the water system. In the next update, due by 12/31/2028, please distribute the public education letter again and provide a date of
distribution. Land management strategies such as public education need to be done at least once every six years to remain compliant with source protection rules. You can expect to see a formal concurrence letter in the next few weeks
with instructions for the next update.
Thank you, have a nice weekend.
