The Salt Lake Valley Landfill (Salt Lake County Solid Waste) accepts tires from residents for recycling. The tires are ticketed at the Salt Lake Valley Landfill scales and the citizens drop them off at the Citizens Unloading area of the facility. The tires are subsequently loaded into a roll-off container and are delivered to the tire recyclers (Liberty Tire Recycling 11 miles one way distance – GLS Tire Recycling 3.5 miles one way distance). Transportation is performed by Salt Lake Valley Landfill (Salt Lake County Solid Waste) trucks and personnel. 2023 Summary Tires Received 6,660 Tires Delivered to Liberty Tire Recycling 104.46 Tons Tires Delivered to GSL Tire Recycling 26.99 Tons Cost Per Mile for Transportation $14.03/Mile Cost Per Mile for transportation was calculated by the average of the total of cost including Fuel, Maintenance, Repairs, and Depreciation (for the multiple vehicles used to transport tires in 2023) - $12.83/Mile. We then calculated the average labor rate per mile (based on operating a vehicle an average of 30 miles per hour) for the multiple employees who drive these vehicles - $1.20/Mile. Total Cost Per Mile Transportation - $14.03. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will submit the request for 2024 as soon as we have all the information I need to calculate.
