Semi Rollover

Synopsys: A semi-tractor and trailer rolled over on I-80 WB leaking oil and fuel.
Common Location:I-80 WB Exit 94, Lakepoint, UT
Response/Site Survey: The Lincoln Environmental Services (LES) team responded
with a light duty truck and response trailer, one supervisor and two hazardous
materials technician.
Upon arrival the LES team worked with the tow company onsite to locate the
extent of the spill. Approximately three to five gallons of oil and five to fifteen gallons
of fuel had spill onto the asphalt and small section of soil.
Remediation Action: Team members using absorbents prevented any additional
spilled material from spreading while the tow company up righted the truck and
trailer. Once the truck and trailer was up righted LES members pumped the
remaining fuel from the fuel tanks. Additional absorbents, brooms, and shovels were
then used for remediation work on the asphalt placing generated waste into two fifty
five gallon poly drums for disposal. Soil removal of contaminated area reached a
depth of no more than two inches.
Recovered Materials: 2-55 gal poly drums were disposed of 400lbs
Approximately 60-70 gals of diesel were pumped from the tractor.
