HomeMy WebLinkAboutDERR-2025-001522VCP/Brownfields Section - Site Visit Report SITE NAME: Airport West / North Temple Landfill SITE LOCATION: Salt Lake City DATE OF SITE VISIT: 28 February 2025 PURPOSE OF SITE VISIT: DERR (David Bird) oversight of field activities at the Airport West VCP site. FIELD OBSERVATIONS: At ~ 9:00 am, the DERR met UIPA’s contractor, Ninigret (Eric Rice), and concrete crushing subcontractor, Staker Parsons at the site to discuss how the inspection for possible asbestos containing material (ACM), and processing of concrete into roadbase material is progressing. The pile of processed material on site has grown. NT Development indicated that the processed concrete pile now represents approximately 100,000 tons of roadbase, and that no more ACM had been found through the inspection process. The crushing plant was not operating today because maintenance was underway. I was told the crushing of concrete is about 50% done. The expected time for completion of the crushing is the end of April 2025. Ninigret and DERR discussed upcoming events needed to prepare for the excavation of material from the waste cells of the landfill. This is expected to commence near the first of May 2025. Near the end of next week, Ninigret expects to install the liner for each of the leachate ponds The DERR left the site at ~10:00 am. SPLIT SAMPLES COLLECTED: No IS THE WORK BEING PERFORMED IN A MANNER CONSISTENT WITH THE ACCEPTED WORKPLAN? Yes Looking north at the 7200 West entrance toward the pile of processed concrete to be used as roadbase material.
