RE:Bid Approval – The Playas Abandoned Waste Tire RemovalSalt Lake County
Dear Ms. Shaffer:
The Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control (Division) has completed its review of the bids to remove the abandoned waste tire pile from Salt Lake County. The waste tire pile
is located at 6602 W 2100 S Salt Lake City, Utah. The bid submitted by Great Salt Lake Recycling, LLC (GSL) is acceptable at $290/UST traveling0.8 miles one way between the pickup location
of the waste tire pile and GSLat 2174 South 7200 West in Magna. With this letter of approval, please contactGSLand the Division with a scheduled start date for this project.
Upon completion of the work, documentation must be submitted to the Division for authorization of payment, which shall be calculated based on miles one way between the location of the
waste tire pile and the recycler. Utah Code Section19-6-811(6) requires that the recycler or waste tire transporter that removed the abandoned waste tire pile pursuant to the bid shall
submit a copy of the manifest, which shall state:
the number or tons of waste tires transported;
the location from which the waste tires were removed;
the recycler to which the waste tires were delivered to; and
the amount charged by the transporter or recycler.
In addition to the information above, the Division requires the weight or scale tickets to corroborate the submitted manifest.
Upon completion of the removal activities, Utah Code Section 19-6-811(5)(b) requires the county or municipality to advise the Director that the abandoned waste tire pile has been removed.
Once all of the above information has been received and determined to be complete, the Director shall authorize the Division of Finance to reimburse the waste tire transporter or recycler.
