Etter Real Estate and General Services Unisys Corporation 3199 Pilot Knob Road Eagan, MN 55121 RE: 2021-2022 Biennial Status Report Unisys Salt Lake City Facility 322 North 2200 West, Salt Lake City, Utah EPA ID: UTD009073214 Dear Mr. Etter: The Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control Waste (Division) has completed its review of your2021-2022 Biennial Status Report(Report) dated November 30, 2023 for the Unisys Salt Lake City site. The Report includes the groundwater monitoring results and summarizes the activities completed during the years of 2021-2022. The Report also includes an evaluation of natural attenuation of the groundwater contamination and a statistical analysis of the past monitoring data. The Report indicates the concentrations of volatile organic compounds present in the groundwater are decreasing over time and have reached asymptotic levels at the site. Unisys will need to continue the groundwater monitoring in accordance with the approved groundwater monitoring program specified in the Division’s April 22, 2021 letter and Section 3.3 – Groundwater Monitoring of the updated Site Management Plan dated January 2024. In the future, groundwater monitoring will be conducted every five years starting the year 2027. The Division cannot agree to reduce or eliminate the groundwater monitoring at the site as proposed in the Report at this time.
